ACTIVITIES

Health monitoring in Occupational Medicine

  • Preventive medical examinations related to the workplace requirements: pre-employment medical examination, periodic medical examinations;

  • Medical monitoring of ionizing radiations exposed workers;

  • Expertise in the exposure of the people to the electromagnetic fields: interpreting of the measurement bulletins, specialized consultancy;

  • Development of health impact studies in relationship with occupational risk factors (physical and chemical agents, carcinogens, allergy agents, volatile organic agents, heavy metals, systemic toxic agents, ergonomic factors, overwhelming neurological, psychiatric and systemic agents)

  • Paraclinical investigations - ventilatory functional investigations;

  • Counseling and expertise in occupational health issues;

  • Elaboration of specialty reports for abilitation of toxicology laboratories for measure noxes in occupational environment (Ordin M.S. 1093/2004);

  • Technical recommendations, documents elaboration and services for occupational health providers;

  • Offers specialty counseling and collaborate with local public authorities and others health institutions and medical schools in the occupational health field;

Monitoring of Work Environment

  • Laboratory assessment of occupational risk physical-chemical agents in the working environment (gases, vapors and powders);

  • Bio-toxicology testing: hippuric acid, trichloroacetic acid, sulfate index, delta aminolevulinic acid, urinary thio-cyanides, phenols, metals and semimetals;

  • Measurement of noise, illumination, electromagnetic field, microclimate in the working environment.

Professional training

  • Courses for doctors and healthcare professionals in the matter of occupational medicine;

  • Participating in the occupational medicine residency program.

Health promotion and health education – „Center for Information, Documentation and Education in Health Promotion”

  • Planning and developing and implementing of the health education programs;

  • Teaching and training in health education and health promotion for the professionals and the community members;

  • Supporting territory wide health promoting initiatives such as "Healthy Cities" movement;

  • Health education and health promotion research;

  • Developing partnerships with local communities and national and international organizations to promote health promotion and health education;

  • Apply the principles of, and strategies for, health promotion to a variety of population groups, risk factors, diseases, and in various settings;

  • Promote healthy living (better diet, more physical activity and tobacco cessation) and healthy societies (especially for the poor and those living in disadvantaged populations);

  • Workplace health promotion;

  • Developing of the audio, visual, and print materials.
